DUI Mom Had Kids in Car During Stafford Crash

STAFFORD, VA — A woman is facing multiple charges after crashing her vehicle into a ditch with two children in the backseat during a suspected DUI incident in South Stafford, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy H.H. Cassetta responded to Forest Lane Road at approximately 8:37 p.m. on May 26 for a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a Chevrolet that had veered off the road. Upon arrival, the deputy found two infants in the backseat of the vehicle, which had landed in a ditch. No injuries were reported.

The driver, identified as 43-year-old Oluwakemi Oredugba of Stafford, told the deputy she “did not know” how the vehicle ended up off the roadway. According to authorities, the vehicle struck several bushes before crossing the roadway and crashing into the ditch.

Deputy Cassetta observed indicators of intoxication, including a strong smell of alcohol on Oredugba’s breath. An open bottle of Hennessy was reportedly found inside the vehicle. Oredugba also had a prior DUI conviction and was found to be driving without a valid inspection.

The two children were turned over to a responsible family member at the scene.

Facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges

Oredugba was arrested and charged with second offense DUI within ten years, two counts of DUI with children present, two counts of child neglect, drinking while driving, reckless driving, no inspection, and refusal to submit to a test.

She is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
