Early morning four-vehicle crash in Brick Township leaves one critically injured

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ — Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Route 70 that left one driver in critical condition on Saturday morning, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Route 70 and Duquesne Boulevard when a Volkswagen minivan traveling westbound struck a Hyundai Sonata stopped at a red light. The impact pushed the Hyundai into two other vehicles, a Ford F250 pickup truck and a Dodge Ram pickup truck, which were also stopped at the signal.

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Volkswagen minivan was treated and released from Ocean University Medical Center in Brick Township. The drivers of the two pickup trucks were uninjured.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and Brick Township Police Department are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision.

Officials have not yet disclosed if charges will be filed.
