CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Fire and EMS units responded to an early morning house fire on Sunday, where Cherry Hill Police officers were already evacuating residents, according to the Cherry Hill Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find a blaze on the first floor of the home, which they swiftly extinguished. The fire department credited a closed interior door with helping to contain the fire and prevent the spread of thick smoke and superheated gases throughout the house.

Officials emphasized the importance of keeping bedroom doors closed at night to act as a barrier during fires. The fire department also urged residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors and to practice home escape plans regularly.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
