EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — The East Brunswick Police Department has acknowledged an increase in drone sightings across the township and is asking residents to report any information or footage of the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), officials said Friday.

While it is not illegal to fly drones in unrestricted airspace, authorities are working to monitor their activity and ensure public safety. The department emphasized that there are no immediate or credible threats linked to the sightings.

Residents are encouraged to report drone activity by contacting the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submitting photos and videos online at tips.fbi.gov. If drones are observed near critical infrastructure, citizens should call 732-390-6901 or dial 9-1-1 in emergencies.

Police noted that drone sightings have become a statewide issue and urged vigilance while maintaining that there is currently no cause for alarm.
