BELLE GLADE, FL – A drive-by shooting in a small community deep in the Florida Everglades struck an innocent girl, killing her.
Police reported that at around 7:15 pm Friday night, deputies responded to a shooting in the 500 block of SE 1st Street, Belle Glade where located an 8-year-old girl suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Our detectives later learned that this was a drive-by shooting that struck and killed the 8-year-old,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to WPBTF, the girl has been identified as 8-year-old Ronziyah Atkins. Atkins’ death was reported by the Sheriff’s Office at 9:45 p.m.
