78 year old woman shot in leg as Baltimore gunfire sends second victim to hospital
BALTIMORE, MD — A 78-year-old woman was struck by gunfire in South Baltimore on Wednesday afternoon as police later discovered a second shooting victim had walked into a hospital seeking treatment, authorities said.
Southern District officers responded around 3:03 p.m. May 6 to the 800 block of Seagull Avenue for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, police said they found a 78-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The woman was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.
A short time later, investigators learned a second victim connected to the shooting had arrived at a hospital independently.
Police said the second victim, a 22-year-old man, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the foot.
Southern District detectives are leading the investigation.
