Elkridge shopper scores big Powerball prize at Royal Farms

ELKRIDGE, MD — One lucky Powerball player is holding a $50,000 winning ticket sold at a convenience store in Elkridge, Maryland, lottery officials announced Tuesday.

The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball in the Monday, July 14 drawing. The winning numbers were 8, 12, 45, 46, 63 with a Powerball of 24.

The ticket was purchased at the Royal Farms located at 8268 Lark Brown Road in Howard County. It marks the 17th third-tier Powerball winner in Maryland this year.

No one claimed the jackpot Monday, meaning the top prize for the next drawing on Wednesday has climbed to an estimated $264 million annuity, or $119.7 million cash option.

Meanwhile, a $1 million second-tier winning ticket was sold in Michigan. That ticket matched all five white balls but missed the Powerball.

Maryland Lottery officials are encouraging the Elkridge winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a secure location. Prizes must be claimed within 182 days of the drawing. Winnings over $25,000 must be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore by appointment.
