Escaped Murder Suspect Still On The Loose in DC Reward Offered

WASHINGTON, DC – The Metropolitan Police Department is actively searching for Christopher Patrick Haynes, an escaped homicide suspect. A $25,000 reward is offered for information leading to his capture.

Haynes, a 30-year-old Black male, is 6’0″ tall and weighs around 205 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, with shoulder-length dreadlocks, and a Washington Nationals tattoo on his neck. He was last seen in a black shirt, gray shorts, and white socks, with black handcuffs hanging from his right wrist.

On September 6, Haynes was apprehended in Manassas, Virginia, by the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Following an extradition waiver, he was transported to MPD’s Homicide Branch for booking in relation to the murder of Brent Hayward on August 12. Haynes later complained of ankle pain from a pre-existing injury.

At 3 p.m., he was taken to The George Washington University Hospital for treatment. Around 3:38 p.m., while an officer was attempting to re-cuff him to a gurney, Haynes physically assaulted the officer and fled the scene. Despite a chase, officers could not apprehend him. The police have since received multiple possible sightings but have yet to locate Haynes.

The public is urged to call 911 if Haynes is seen and to exercise caution. Tips can be submitted by calling 202-727-9099 or by texting 50411. MPD, the FBI, and the United States Marshals Service have jointly offered a reward of $25,000 for information that leads to Haynes’ apprehension.
