A Virginia Lottery player struck a six-figure win on a Scratcher ticket purchased at a local Falls Church store
FALLS CHURCH, Va. — A Falls Church resident is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win after purchasing a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket at a neighborhood retailer.
Fernando Rubio won a $100,000 second prize playing the Virginia Lottery’s Six Figures Scratcher game, according to lottery officials.
Rubio purchased the winning ticket at Culmore Crown, located at 5929 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church.
After scratching the ticket, he discovered he had landed one of the game’s second-tier prizes worth $100,000.
Six Figures is one of the Virginia Lottery’s Scratcher games and offers prizes ranging from $10 to a top prize of $500,000.
Lottery officials said two $100,000 second prizes remain unclaimed, along with two top prizes worth $500,000 each.
The odds of winning the game’s top prize are 1 in 897,600, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.97.
The Virginia Lottery noted that all lottery profits support K-12 education across the Commonwealth.
According to lottery officials, Falls Church received more than $460,000 in Virginia Lottery funding for K-12 education during the last fiscal year.
Statewide, the Virginia Lottery generated more than $901 million for K-12 education during Fiscal Year 2025.
