Family Displaced in Tuesday Night Fire in Princess Anne

PRINCESS ANNE, MD — Authorities are investigating a structure fire that occurred at 6:58 PM on Tuesday at 27039 Fitzgerald Road. The fire damaged a one-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling owned by James Meadows.

The fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damages, including $30,000 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents. No injuries or deaths were reported. Smoke alarms and fire sprinklers were not present in the home.

The Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company responded to the incident with 25 firefighters and controlled the blaze within 10 minutes. The fire was discovered by an occupant and originated in the living room. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Two adults and one child were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
