Oxon Hill mom hits $50K jackpot after spotting winning numbers live
Oxon Hill, MD — A Prince George’s County woman watching a live lottery drawing saw her numbers appear in real time, turning a $1 bet into a $50,000 prize.
The Oxon Hill resident claimed her top-prize Pick 5 winnings Tuesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore after recognizing the winning combination during the April 9 evening drawing.
She said she prefers watching the animated drawing online rather than checking results afterward, and captured the moment by taking a screenshot on her phone when the numbers 10110 appeared.
The winner said the five-digit combination came from the former address of a family member. After that relative died, she began playing the number daily.
According to the Maryland Lottery, the player placed a $1 straight bet to win the top prize of $50,000.
The woman, who works in the medical field, said she plans to invest her winnings. She also noted she enjoys traveling and visiting MGM National Harbor in Forest Heights.
The winning ticket was sold at Harbor Market, located at 5515 Livingston Road in Oxon Hill. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.
