Fatal Collision Investigated by Delaware State Police Near Milton

MILTON, DE — A fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred Thursday afternoon near Milton is currently under investigation by the Delaware State Police.

The accident took place on May 30, 2024, at approximately 2:28 PM, involving a Mercedes E-Class and a Toyota RAV-4 on Harbeson Road. The Mercedes, driving southbound, attempted to turn left onto Carpenter Road when it collided with the northbound Toyota.

The 62-year-old driver of the Mercedes, from Camden, Delaware, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, along with a 12-year-old passenger who also sustained minor injuries. The Toyota’s driver, a 65-year-old woman from Harbeson, Delaware, was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Her identity is withheld pending family notification. Additionally, a 44-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child, both passengers in the Toyota, suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized.

The crash led to a closure of the affected roadway for about three hours to allow for investigation and cleanup.
