Fatal Crash in Milton Under Investigation by Delaware State Police

MILTON, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 74-year-old woman from Ellendale.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:32 p.m. on Friday when a Ford Bronco was traveling northbound on Mulberry Street and entered the intersection at Milton-Ellendale Highway. At the same time, a Sussex County EMS Chevrolet Suburban, with emergency equipment activated, was traveling westbound on Milton-Ellendale Highway.

Preliminary findings indicate the Bronco passed a stop sign and entered the path of the EMS vehicle. The Suburban struck the passenger side of the Bronco, causing it to rotate and collide with a tree.

The driver of the Bronco was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the EMS vehicle, a 38-year-old Sussex County paramedic, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
