Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Harrington Claims Life of 51-Year-Old Laurel Man

HARRINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police are currently investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred yesterday in Harrington, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.

The incident took place on May 21, 2024, at around 4:01 p.m. on Vernon Road near the intersection with Fox Hunters Road. A Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by a 58-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was executing a left turn onto Fox Hunters Road when a Honda CB1 motorcycle, traveling westbound on Vernon Road, collided with the rear of the trailer.

The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man from Denton, Maryland, was ejected upon impact and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family. The driver of the Freightliner was unharmed.

The accident led to the closure of the roadway for about three hours to allow for an on-site investigation and clearing of the wreckage. Further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
