BRONX, NY – A woman riding a southbound “5” train was punched in the face during a heated confrontation early Wednesday morning.
The incident unfolded around 7 a.m. as the train approached the East 149th Street and 3rd Avenue station.
The 27-year-old victim was struck by an unidentified man following a brief verbal dispute.
She exited the train at East 86th Street and Lexington Avenue and later went to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was treated for facial pain and swelling and listed in stable condition.
Suspect remains at large
The assailant stayed aboard the train after the attack and has not yet been identified.
Police described the man as wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black boots.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing as transit officers review surveillance footage from stations along the route.
The NYPD has urged anyone with information about the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers.
