Fire at Frederick Street Under Investigation by Stamford Fire Marshal

Stamford, CT – On Wednesday at 7:47 pm, the Stamford Fire Department responded to a grill fire that had spread to the rear of a house at 28 Frederick Street.

Engine 4 from the Shippan firehouse reached the location in three minutes and observed heavy smoke from the back of the multifamily home. The crew extinguished the exterior blaze and detected that the fire had spread into the rear exterior wall, prompting the use of additional hoses inside the house.

The house’s occupants had evacuated on their own. Firefighters rescued a dog from the second floor, unharmed. The fire was declared under control at 8:34 pm with no reported injuries.

Due to the significant damage caused, the American Red Cross assisted in relocating two families. The incident brought 35 firefighters, command, and support personnel, with scene support from Stamford EMS and Stamford PD. The fire’s cause is under investigation by the Stamford Fire Marshal’s office.
