Fire Contained at Richmond Highway Metal Pile in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX, VA – Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to a metal pile fire earlier today in the 9900 block of Richmond Highway. The fire is now under control, with crews continuing to address remaining hotspots.

The incident prompted a prolonged response from fire teams, including HazMat units monitoring the air quality and nearby water supplies. Thankfully, there have been no injuries reported in connection to the fire.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality along with the EPA are assessing and managing any environmental impacts resulting from the incident. Fire and rescue personnel will remain on the scene to ensure the area is completely safe.
