DORCHESTER, MD — The Maryland State Fire Marshal announced an investigation into a structure fire that occurred on Thursday evening. The incident took place at a three-story, wood-frame, single-family house located at 1003 Travers Street, Cambridge, Dorchester County.

The fire, reported at 6:13 PM, prompted a response from the Rescue Fire Company. A total of 50 firefighters were involved, and it took them approximately one hour to control the blaze. The fire originated in the first-floor utility room, though the cause remains under investigation.

The property suffered significant damage, with the structure and contents estimated losses amounting to $400,000. A firefighter was transported to Tidal Health in Salisbury for treatment of non-life-threatening burns. The status of smoke alarms in the home is currently undetermined, and there were no fire alarm or sprinkler systems in place. No arrests have been made related to the incident.
