OAKLAND, N.J. – Firefighters rushed to a burning home Friday afternoon after flames tore through the second floor, prompting a large mutual aid response across Bergen County, officials said.
The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 3:34 p.m. for a reported house fire. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire venting from the Alpha and Bravo sides of the home’s second floor. Firefighters entered the residence and quickly worked to knock down the flames before they spread further.
No injuries were reported, and the blaze was brought under control after an aggressive interior attack.
Departments from Franklin Lakes, Mahwah, Waldwick, Wyckoff, Pompton Lakes, Midland Park, North Haledon, and Wayne assisted on scene, along with Bergen County OEM and the Oakland First Aid Squad. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
