FORT MYERS, Florida — Jonathan Garduno, a 33-year-old resident of Fort Myers, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell. The sentencing comes after Garduno’s guilty plea on September 14, 2023, for charges related to the distribution of methamphetamine and attempts to possess with intent to distribute the substance.
Court records reveal that on December 10, 2021, Garduno was involved in the distribution of approximately 109 grams of methamphetamine from his residence in exchange for a cash payment. In a subsequent incident on January 11, 2022, Garduno orchestrated the shipment of a large quantity of methamphetamine to a location in Lee County. The package was intercepted by investigators from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, who identified its contents as methamphetamine. A DEA forensic chemist confirmed the substance weighed about 1,695.2 grams of actual methamphetamine.
The conviction underscores the collaborative efforts of federal agencies to combat the distribution of controlled substances. Garduno’s sentencing reflects the serious nature of narcotics distribution and the federal judiciary’s commitment to addressing drug-related crimes.
