Florida Police Officer and Girlfriend Arrested for Walmart Theft

December 12, 2023

POLK COUNTY, FL – David Griffin, a Haines City Police Department officer, and his girlfriend, Shelbi DuBose, 28, were arrested for allegedly stealing items from a Walmart in Polk County. The couple was accused of selectively scanning items at a self-service checkout last Saturday.

Sheriff Grady Judd reported that a Walmart employee noticed the couple not scanning some items. They were allowed to re-scan, but reportedly continued the theft after the employee left. The incident led to their arrest on petit theft charges.

Following his arrest, Griffin resigned from his position with the police department. This case has drawn attention due to Griffin’s role as a law enforcement officer and the nature of the alleged crime. Both Griffin and DuBose are currently facing legal proceedings related to the incident.
