ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A Saturday night pool party at one of Atlantic City‘s busiest beach bars spilled onto the Boardwalk and into another casino, where police arrested four people following a series of fights that disrupted the summer nightlife scene.
The incident happened last weekend, and police announced charges this week.
According to the Atlantic City Police Department, the night’s first disturbance occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at the Bungalow Beach Bar, where officers responded to a fight as a large crowd was leaving the venue.
The altercation coincided with the end of the 1200 Degrees Pool Party, which had drawn hundreds of people to the beach beginning around 5 p.m. Although police responded to the initial fight, no arrests were made at Bungalow Beach Bar.
Hundreds moved from the beach to Tropicana
With the event ending, an estimated 400 patrons exited onto the Boardwalk, according to police.
Many of those partygoers continued south to The Quarter at Tropicana, where another large fight erupted inside the casino’s nightlife district. Videos of the disturbance quickly spread across social media, showing a chaotic scene as security personnel and police attempted to restore order.
The second fight resulted in four arrests.
Police charged Zynirah Coward, 23, of Galloway Township, with obstruction of justice.
Authorities also charged Jacob Valeus, 25, of Mays Landing, Kendoll Brown, 26, of Galloway Township, and Jahzir Jackson-Campos, 24, of Egg Harbor City, each with disorderly conduct.
All four defendants were released on summonses pending court proceedings.
Atlantic City police and casino security face multiple challenges during the busy summer tourism season, when large entertainment events can draw hundreds of visitors to the Boardwalk and casino district in a matter of hours. As crowds leave one venue, they often migrate to nearby bars, nightclubs, and casinos, requiring a coordinated public safety response.
The four criminal charges are allegations. Each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
