LAKEWOOD, N.J. — A small plane crashed into a wooded area near Lakewood Airport on Thursday afternoon, leaving four people injured, according Lakewood Police Department Captain Greg Staffordsmith.

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 4 p.m. about the downed aircraft near Cedarbridge Avenue. Upon arrival, first responders found the plane in the wood line with all four occupants injured.

Details about the severity of the injuries were not immediately available. The identities of the passengers have not been disclosed, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to assist in determining the circumstances leading to the accident. Lakewood Airport officials have not yet commented on the incident.
