Frederick doctor arrested for rape and sexual assault

FREDERICK, Md. — A Frederick doctor has been arrested on multiple rape and sexual offense charges following a grand jury indictment, the Frederick Police Department announced.

Dr. Syed Haque, 64, an internist and primary care physician with more than 20 years of experience, faces two counts of second-degree rape, three counts of fourth-degree sex offense, and three counts of second-degree assault. The charges stem from two separate visits by the same patient to his office.

According to police, the victim reported that Dr. Haque inappropriately touched her during medical exams, claiming to perform pelvic and breast exams that were not part of her scheduled appointments. The second incident, which occurred in January, was immediately reported to staff and law enforcement.

The Frederick Police Department launched an investigation following the victim’s report, leading to the grand jury indictment and Haque’s subsequent arrest. Authorities have not disclosed whether additional victims have come forward.

Police have urged anyone with relevant information to contact investigators as the case moves forward.
