July 29, 2024

FROSTBURG, MD—An accidental fire caused damage to a house trailer in Frostburg on the morning of July 29. The blaze, which was quickly controlled, occurred at 20605 Hersick Road SW.

The Midland Volunteer Fire Company responded to the incident after a passerby noticed the fire at approximately 9:11 AM. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in about 10 minutes, preventing it from spreading inside the residence.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the fire originated from the exterior of the house and was caused by a damaged extension cord igniting the vinyl skirting of the trailer. The fire resulted in an estimated loss of $10,000 to the structure.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Lisa Ann Taylor, the owner and occupant of the trailer, was unharmed. The property did not have smoke alarms or a sprinkler system installed.
