Pittsburgh man wanted on multiple warrants captured while woman faces hindering charge
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A Pittsburgh fugitive wanted on multiple warrants was captured hiding beneath attic insulation inside a Penn Hills home Thursday, where detectives also recovered a stolen handgun, two additional firearms and suspected illegal drugs, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced that 26-year-old Curtis Davis was arrested after detectives tracked him to a residence on Barckhoff Street in Penn Hills.
Authorities said Davis had been wanted since May on a bench warrant for violating probation tied to a June 2024 case in which he pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash in Mt. Lebanon.
Investigators said Davis was also wanted on a second bench warrant after failing to appear for a formal arraignment on an evading arrest charge. He additionally faced an active Brentwood arrest warrant that included firearms violations, theft and witness intimidation charges.
Detectives announced their presence several times before forcing entry into the home.
Inside, deputies found two infant children on a couch and encountered 26-year-old Shadaiya Jones. After securing the occupants, detectives searched the residence and discovered Davis hiding beneath insulation in the attic.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Davis initially refused commands to surrender before eventually climbing out and being taken into custody.
Jones was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives recovered three handguns, including a 9mm Smith & Wesson reported stolen from the City of Pittsburgh. Investigators also seized suspected crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana.
Davis and Jones were transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
