UTICA, NY – A parolee, Albert Marone, 52, of Utica, violently resisted arrest by New York State Parole Officers on May 29th at a residence on the 600 block of South St. The incident occurred around 2:00 PM when officers attempted to apprehend Marone, who was wanted for absconding from parole.
During the arrest, Marone became combative, striking a parole officer with a table lamp and attempting to choke and gouge the eyes of the officer. Despite the efforts of multiple officers, Marone continued to resist aggressively until pepper spray was used, allowing officers to secure him in handcuffs. Utica Police arrived shortly after to assist.
Marone was transported to the Utica Police Department, and the injured parole officers received medical treatment at Wynn Hospital. He now faces several charges, including assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and resisting arrest, among others.
In a separate incident reported by the Utica Police in February, a bank fraud case was resolved with the arrest of Rosemary Rondinelli, 68, of Utica. After a detailed investigation involving bank subpoenas, it was discovered that Rondinelli had been using the victim’s bank account to fund a prison account. She has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and identity theft in the second degree.
