August 20, 2024

AKRON, Ohio — Rex Miller, a fugitive wanted by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service, was apprehended Monday evening in Cuyahoga Falls. The arrest was made by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF).

Miller, 27, was sought on multiple charges, including contempt of court, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, sexual battery, and failure to comply.

Authorities had issued a warrant for his arrest after he violated the terms of his judicial release, leading to the revocation of his bond.

Miller, who stands approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds, was known to frequent areas in Portage, Summit, and Cuyahoga counties. The NOVFTF had previously offered a reward for information leading to his capture.

The Akron Police Department confirmed the arrest in a statement released this morning, thanking the public and law enforcement partners for their assistance in the search. No further details about the arrest have been provided at this time.
