Fugitive Wanted for Shooting in Neptune City Captured by US Marshals in Georgia

FREEHOLD, NJ – Andre Paul, wanted in connection with a shooting incident that took place in Neptune City, has been arrested in Georgia, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

Andre Paul, 27, is charged with first-degree Attempted Murder, two second-degree weapons offenses, and third-degree Hindering Apprehension. The charges stem from an incident on May 22, when Neptune City Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Brighton Arms apartment complex on West Sylvania Avenue. Though no injuries were reported, multiple vehicles and an apartment unit had been hit by bullets.

A collaborative investigation between the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Forensics Bureaus and Neptune City Police led to Paul being identified as a suspect. Charges were filed against him last month. Paul was apprehended in Stone Mountain, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, by members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Paul remains in custody and awaits extradition to Monmouth County Superior Court. The case is being prosecuted by Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Cummings. Details on Paul’s legal representation were not available at the time.

Prosecutor Santiago praised the multi-agency cooperation that led to the arrest. “The arrest of this individual and others during recent months is illustrative of the strength of law enforcement collaboration in Monmouth County and beyond,” said Santiago.

Convictions on first-degree criminal offenses in New Jersey can result in up to 20 years in state prison.
