Garfield Woman Charged in Serious Crash Involving Pedestrian

GARFIELD, N.J. – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Ashley Elizabeth Ann Flores, 24, of Garfield, on charges including aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, and assault by auto. The arrest follows a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department.

The incident occurred on Monday, September 2, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., when Garfield Police responded to a crash on Outwater Lane near Wilson Street. Authorities determined that Flores, driving a white Jeep, first struck a parked unoccupied vehicle. While attempting to flee the scene, she struck a pedestrian, pinning the victim between her car and the parked vehicle. The victim sustained a serious leg injury and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Flores was taken to a hospital for evaluation and later released. On September 3, 2024, she was arrested at her residence and charged with second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, and fourth-degree assault by auto. Flores was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
