Giant Flying Shark to Visit Jersey Shore This Weekend

TOMS RIVER, NJ – It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s a shark. A flying shark will be gracing the skies at the Jersey Shore this weekend as Shark Week returns. No, it’s not a real life Sharknado, it’s a Shark Week themed airship.

Shark Week, the longest-running summer event, returns for its 34th year with more sharks and record-breaking breaches on Sunday, July 24 and continues through Sunday, July 31 on Discovery Channel and Discovery+.

“Beginning Friday, July 1 and continuing through Saturday, July 30, Shark Week, fans can look to the skies on the East Coast – and for the first time ever — on the West Coast to catch the iconic Shark Week blimps,” said Lauren Covey. “Traveling approximately 250 miles per day, the East Coast-based Shark Week blimp, measuring 128-feet long x 44ft high, will take off from Nashville while the West Coast-based blimp, measuring at 179-feet long x 56-feet high, will begin its coastal journey from San Francisco. Make sure to catch the flying shark as it makes its way to different cities along each coast leading up to the launch.”

This year, make your blimp sightings count for your coast by using #WestShark and #EastShark when posting on social media. Track sightings along with the location of both blimps on www.SharkWeek.com/Blimp.
