Gloucester Township House Fire Displaces Residents on Brookline Court

Firefighters quickly contained a residential fire in Gloucester Township after flames spread from a garage to the roof, temporarily displacing the home’s occupants.

A residential fire in the Clementon section of Gloucester Township prompted a multi-agency emergency response Tuesday afternoon, but no injuries were reported. Police said the fire was reported at approximately 2:01 p.m. at a home on the unit block of Brookline Court.

Officers arriving at the scene observed smoke coming from the roof and flames extending from the garage. Initial information indicated all residents had safely evacuated the home, though there were concerns that a dog remained inside.

Dog safely located during emergency response

Responding personnel quickly confirmed that the dog had been safely accounted for and was not injured. Authorities said all occupants and pets were safely out of the residence.

Firefighters from Gloucester Township and several neighboring fire departments worked to extinguish the blaze. Inspira Basic Life Support also responded to assist at the scene.

“The fire was extinguished by firefighters from Gloucester Township, New Jersey and several neighboring fire departments,” police said in a statement.

Cause remains under investigation

Although no injuries were reported, the home’s residents were temporarily displaced due to damage caused by the fire. Officials have not released an estimate of the extent of the damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Department and the Chews Landing Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office.

The police department used the incident to remind residents about fire safety. “Working smoke alarms provide critical early warning in the event of a fire, allowing occupants to evacuate quickly and safely,” the department said.

Officials added that prompt notification to emergency responders and rapid action by first responders can help minimize property damage and protect lives.
