JACKSON, N.J. – The long-vacant Stop & Shop supermarket on West County Line Road will soon come back to life as Gourmet Glatt prepares to open its newest location in Jackson, marking the specialty kosher grocer’s sixth store in the region.

Operators have confirmed that the business has received its final certificate of occupancy, clearing the way for operations to begin in the coming days.

The 68,000-square-foot space, once home to Stop & Shop before its closure last fall, has undergone a full renovation featuring a new layout that includes a fresh bakery, an in-store pizza counter, and a grab-and-go breakfast and lunch area. Shoppers will also find a full-service coffee bar and an expanded produce department designed to highlight the market’s kosher offerings.

As of this week, shelving and fixtures are in place but not yet fully stocked. The business said preparations for the grand opening are in the final stages and that an official opening date will be announced shortly.

Gourmet Glatt operates five other markets across New York and New Jersey, including two in Lakewood and additional locations in Cedarhurst, Woodmere, and Kiamesha Lake, N.Y. The Jackson site at 2275 West County Line Road marks the company’s latest expansion in the region’s growing kosher food market.

The former Stop & Shop location, built around 1990 and expanded in the early 2000s, had stood empty since September 2024 after being shuttered as part of the supermarket chain’s 2024 downsizing that included stores in Newton and Carlstadt.

When it opens, it will be one of the largest kosher grocery stores in the Lakewood region.
