Grand jury indicts man for murder in long unsolved disappearance of Worcester woman

WORCESTER, MA – A Worcester County Grand Jury has indicted Albert Carabba, 64, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, for murder in the 2009 disappearance of 36-year-old Patricia Santos. This announcement was made by Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Carabba faces one count of murder related to the case of his ex-girlfriend, Santos, who was reported missing from 45 Fruit Street, Worcester, on May 20, 2009. Since then, she has not been seen or heard from again.

Following the indictment, law enforcement officials apprehended Carabba without incident in Ocean Springs. Detectives from the Ocean Springs Police Department, with support from the Worcester Police Department, executed the arrest.

Carabba is expected to be returned to Massachusetts for arraignment in Worcester Superior Court at a later date.

Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier commented, “For the last 16 years, the Worcester Police Department has not forgotten Patricia Santos.” He added, “This arrest highlights the steadfast, patient determination with which WPD officers and detectives worked to take the next steps towards justice for her and her family.”

The investigation into Santos’s disappearance involved the Worcester Police Department and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, which reviewed and sought to close all open homicide cases.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about this case or unsolved homicides to contact the Worcester Police Detective Bureau.
