GREENWOOD, DE — In a recent incident, 63-year-old Ralph Cahall of Greenwood was arrested for felony DUI, marking his sixth DUI-related offense. The arrest followed a high-speed pursuit that ended with Cahall crashing into a tree and attempting to flee on foot.

The events unfolded on April 2, around 5:32 PM, when a state trooper spotted a black Chevrolet Silverado with a false registration plate on Deep Grass Lane. Cahall, the driver, accelerated away when the trooper attempted to stop him, subsequently running a stop sign at Staytonville Road. The chase was briefly halted by the trooper due to safety concerns but resumed when Cahall crashed into a tree on Staytonville Road and fled into the woods. He was soon apprehended by the authorities.

At the time of his arrest, signs of impairment were evident, leading to further tests at Troop 3 that confirmed his intoxication. A background check revealed Cahall’s extensive history of DUI offenses, resulting in his current charges. He was arraigned and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $9700 secured bond.
