Guess what Camden, schools will continue to enforce mask mandate after March 7th

CAMDEN, NJ – If were looking to unmask your child in school on March 7th and live in Camden, think again. The Camden school district this week said students will continue to be required to wear COVID-19 face masks after the Governor’s statewide mandate ends.

The district is calling the decision a “new sense of normalcy”.

“For our students and staff, we will continue to wear masks at this time. We are glad that the COVID numbers are decreasing in New Jersey, however, we want to make sure our young people continue to be safe while in our care,” Superintendent Katrina McCombs said in a statement. “This new sense of normalcy, although difficult at times, will benefit our students, staff, and entire school community.”

6,000 students attend the Camden school district. This week Murphy and many other elected officials have signaled the drawdown of the COVID-19 pandemic toward an endemic status. In his decision to let the mask mandate expire, Murphy allowed the local school districts to continue deciding locally whether or not to mask up.
