BALTIMORE — A man was fatally shot Friday night near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and South Monroe Street, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

The incident unfolded at approximately 9:08 p.m., when a Southern District officer in the 1700 block of Washington Boulevard was alerted by an individual about a shooting nearby. The officer ran to the scene and discovered an unidentified male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics arrived shortly afterward and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, authorities said. Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased or provided additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Homicide detectives responded to the location and are actively investigating the incident. Police are urging anyone with information to contact detectives at (410) 396-2100.
