Gunman indicted for fatal shooting in Buffalo’s Seneca Babcock Neighborhood

BUFFALO, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 30-year-old Steven L. Tyler, also known as Stephen Tyler, of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I”) felony.

It is alleged that on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at approximately 8:20 p.m., the defendant intentionally shot the victim outside of a residence on Keppel Street in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 30-year-old Bashir Ingram, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Tyler is scheduled to return on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He continues to remain held without bail. If convicted of the charge, Tyler faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in this investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the Homicide Bureau.
