QUEENS, N.Y. – Police are searching for a gunman accused of robbing a 38-year-old man of a fanny pack containing $2,000 during an early-morning encounter in Queens.
The robbery happened around 4 a.m. Aug. 21 in front of 40-09 81st Street, according to the NYPD.
Investigators said the unidentified suspect approached the victim from behind, displayed a firearm and forcibly took the fanny pack before running from the scene.
Suspect Fled Toward Roosevelt Avenue
After taking the bag and cash, the suspect fled on foot westbound along Roosevelt Avenue, police said.
The victim’s fanny pack contained approximately $2,000. Police did not report that any shots were fired during the robbery and did not provide information about injuries to the victim.
The NYPD has not disclosed whether investigators believe the victim was specifically targeted for the cash or encountered the robber at random.
No arrest has been announced.

The NYPD is asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the robbery to come forward.

Police released the wanted alert as detectives continue working to identify the person who fled toward Roosevelt Avenue following the robbery.
The investigation remains active.
