TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey’s weekend forecast calls for a wet start followed by a colder, breezy finish as a passing storm system brings widespread rain before clearing late Sunday.
Friday will see increasing clouds through the afternoon with a chance of rain after 4 p.m. Temperatures will rise to near 56 degrees, with light south winds between 5 and 10 mph. Rain chances stand at 40 percent, but any precipitation is expected to be light.
Showers may linger through early evening before tapering off by 10 p.m. Overnight lows will dip to around 42 under mostly cloudy skies.
Saturday will be the wettest day of the weekend, with steady rain and highs near 48. Rainfall totals could reach up to three-quarters of an inch by evening as calm winds turn easterly around 5 mph. The rain is forecast to continue into Saturday night, bringing another quarter to half inch of accumulation and lows near 40.
By Sunday, conditions begin to improve. Scattered showers may persist through midday before skies gradually turn partly sunny. Temperatures will hold in the mid-40s, but brisk west winds of 5 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, will make it feel colder.
Sunday night will turn clear and chilly, with lows dropping to around 27 as drier air settles in behind the departing storm.
