Highway traffic stop uncovers ghost gun and wanted passenger — handcuff

Two men jailed on multiple weapons charges

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A traffic stop on State Highway 138 led to the discovery of a loaded privately made firearm and the arrest of a passenger wanted on an outstanding warrant, according to Wall Township police.

Police said Patrolman Trent Powers stopped the vehicle on Aug. 3.

Investigators identified passenger Jarrone Perry, 47, of Jackson, as being wanted on a Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office warrant. During the investigation, officers allegedly recovered an unserialized AR-15-style firearm, hollow-point ammunition and other evidence.

Perry and driver Christopher Ojeda, 18, of Toms River, were each charged with possession of an unserialized firearm, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of an assault firearm, unlawful possession of a rifle and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.

Perry was also charged with certain persons not to have weapons.

Both men were taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
