Holiday luck delivers $27K Keno win for D.C. lottery player

OXON HILL, MD — George Slye Jr., a longtime lottery enthusiast from Washington, D.C., celebrated the holidays with a $27,000 Keno win during the Maryland Lottery’s Keno Sprinkler promotion.

Slye purchased the winning ticket at Eastover Liquors on Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill while visiting family. His six-spot, two-draw ticket included a Bonus feature that tripled his prize, which was further multiplied by the Keno Sprinkler promotion.

Calling the win a “Christmas gift,” Slye said it sets his family up for a comfortable start to 2025. He and his wife plan to use the winnings for home renovations and a vacation.

Eastover Liquors will receive a $270 Lottery bonus for selling the winning ticket, equivalent to 1% of the prize amount.

Slye, whose previous largest prize was $43,000, said he plans to keep playing and dreaming of another big win.
