Baltimore man wins $30,000 top prize on new Candy Cane Cash scratch-off
Baltimore, MD — A Baltimore delivery driver landed a $30,000 top prize after taking one more chance on a newly released Candy Cane Cash scratch-off ticket — a decision that turned an ordinary day into a major payday.
The man, an Amazon driver and regular Lottery scratch-off player, bought his winning ticket at the High’s convenience store located at 4525 Norrisville Road in White Hall. He initially purchased two of the $3 tickets, both of which were non-winners. Trusting his instincts, he returned to the counter for one more — and that third ticket held the game’s $30,000 top prize.
The win came just weeks after the launch of the Candy Cane Cash game, which debuted on October 17 as part of the Maryland Lottery’s seasonal holiday lineup. The ticket is one of six new holiday-themed scratch-offs, and this win marks the first of the game’s six available $30,000 top prizes. Five remain unclaimed.
The winner told Lottery officials he plans to use the money to fix his furnace, make repairs to his vehicle, pay off bills, and enjoy some travel and video games. He claimed his prize shortly after discovering the win.
High’s will receive a $300 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
