Holmdel police respond to self-inflicted injury, patient airlifted to hospital

HOLMDEL, N.J. — A local resident was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Saturday morning after suffering a severe self-inflicted laceration to the chest, according to the Holmdel Township Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 8:50 a.m. following a report of the incident. Upon arrival, they found the injured individual, who was treated on-site by Holmdel police officers, members of Middletown First Aid, and Hackensack Meridian medics.

Due to the seriousness of the injury, a medivac was called, and the patient was airlifted to the hospital for further treatment.

Authorities have not disclosed additional details about the individual’s identity or current condition, and no further updates have been provided on the circumstances of the incident.
