Home of New York City Police Commissioner Raided by Federal Investigators

NEW YORK — Federal authorities executed search warrants at the residences of New York City’s interim police commissioner, Thomas G. Donlon, on Friday, according to a statement released by Donlon. The search resulted in the confiscation of materials that Donlon said have been in his possession for about two decades.

In his statement, Donlon emphasized that the items taken are unrelated to his current position or his duties with the New York City Police Department. “This is not a department matter, and the department will not be commenting,” Donlon said.

The nature of the materials seized during the search has not been disclosed by federal officials, and it remains unclear what prompted the investigation.

Donlon, who has served as interim police commissioner since earlier this year, did not provide further details regarding the items or the circumstances surrounding their acquisition.

The New York City Police Department has not issued a formal comment, in line with Donlon’s statement. The investigation is ongoing.

It is believed he was in possession of confidential documents, according to a source close with the FBI.
