Hunter rescued from capsized kayak in Narrow Bay

Mastic Beach, NY – A hunter was rescued from the frigid waters of Narrow Bay early Sunday morning after his kayak tipped over. Police say the hunter was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department arrived at the scene near Mastic Beach after receiving a call from a 911 caller.

Office Jonathan Jensen jumped from the helicopter into the water and assisted the hunter to Pattersquash Island. The 34-year-old male was treated at the scene and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via helicopter for treatment of hypothermia.
