Young driver killed after car crashes into tree in Hyde Park
Hyde Park, NY – A late-night drive ended in tragedy when a single-vehicle crash left a 20-year-old man dead after his car veered off the road and struck a tree, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred Sunday at approximately 9 p.m. on North Quaker Lane near Forest Drive in the Town of Hyde Park.
Preliminary findings indicate a 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by Austin Caston, 20, of Hyde Park, was traveling southbound when the driver lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Caston, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
No additional details about the cause of the crash have been released.
