BOSTON, MA – Rayhan Melo Nunez, an 18-year-old resident of Hyde Park, was arrested on Thursday, by the Youth Violence Strike Force. The arrest happened around 2:35 PM in the vicinity of Garfield Street and Washington Street.
The officers were conducting a firearm investigation when they noticed Nunez operating a motor vehicle. After initiating a traffic stop, the suspect resisted officers’ instructions which led to a brief struggle. The officers, however, safely handcuffed Nunez.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded Glock 26 with fifteen rounds in the magazine and an illegal laser sight attachment.
Nunez has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Resisting Arrest. Nunez’s arraignment is scheduled to take place in West Roxbury District Court.
