ICE removes convicted killer with extensive U.S. criminal record

HOUSTON, TX — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported a previously convicted manslaughter offender back to Mexico, marking his second removal from the United States.

Orbelin Benitez-Carbajal, 49, was deported on Sunday after being transferred from the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, to the Laredo Port of Entry. ICE had previously deported him on December 11, 2014.

His criminal record in the U.S. includes multiple offenses dating back to 2006, with convictions for assault, manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and illegal entry.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford emphasized that Benitez-Carbajal repeatedly violated U.S. laws and was responsible for taking an innocent life.
