TOMS RIVER N.J. — An illegal alien incarcerated in Ocean County is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault by strangulation of a domestic violence victim, according to inmate records.

Erik D. Jimenez was booked into the Ocean County Jail on February 4, 2025, and remains held without bail. Court records show he has been charged with attempting to cause bodily injury under New Jersey statute 2C:12-1A(1), a fourth-degree offense, and aggravated assault by strangulation of a domestic violence victim under statute 2C:12-1B(13), a second-degree offense.

Jimenez also has a detainer issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which could affect his custody status. His projected release date has not been determined and remains subject to change.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the alleged offenses, and the case remains under investigation.
